After spending 14 glorious years teaching 3rd and 4th grade, K-5 Technology, ESOL, ESE, grades 6-12 in a self-contained ASD classroom, I have transitioned to providing services as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder using Applied Behavior Analysis. I continue to combine my love for technology, education and ABA, which has been especially During my years as a classroom teacher I was fortunate enough to become involved with Promethean ActivBoard training soon after our district implemented them in our classrooms, and I became a certified ActivBoard trainer several years ago. I was able to train with some wonderful Promethean trainers and learned all sorts of tricks that made me want to stay home all day and play on ActivInspire! I was the staff technology trainer at my school and worked with other educators to help implement technology in the classroom.I was also fortunate enough to teach technology to grades K-5 for 4 years. (Minecraft Edu was easily my favorite activity to use!) Now I have made the change from classroom teacher to a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, a position in which I continue to use technology to reach my learners, especially in light of the necessity to provide services via telehealth during the Covid-19 pandemic. While I continue to create traditional math, reading, and language arts resources using Powerpoint, Google Slides, printables, and other resources, I am working to expand my work to include products for use in Special Needs classrooms (especially those focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders), ABA therapy, and have begun including Boom Cards in my resources as well. I look forward to continuing to create quality materials that save teachers and therapists time, keep students engaged, and of course ensure our learner's learn!
I know that children learn effectively when they have a balance of structure and freedom, a sense of safety and a feeling of ownership in their own learning, and that humor can go a long way!
