I have been teaching ELA in grades 6-8 for over 10 years in Massachusetts. Over the years I have used a variety of resources that have helped me develop my craft as an educator. I enjoy incorporating reading skills, technology, and backwards design into my curriculum. I have also been advisor to my school's Literary Magazine and Creative Writing Club which allowed me to get creative!
I would say that I have a progressive style of teaching because it is always changing with the times. I incorporate group work, independent work, technology, UBD, student-centered, and students' self-reflection when creating assignments and assessments. I also try to incorporate topics and resources that are relevant and of interest to my students.
I have been a presenter at MassCUE for the last three years. I always give presentations of how to integrate technology into a lesson and how to make students' culminating projects student-centered and engaging.
I received my BA in English Literature from Western New England University in Springfield, MA. I also hold a MA in Middle School Education with a concentration in English from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
