I am a classroom teacher with eight years of experience. I have almost exclusively taught classes with end-of-year assessments also known as standardized test requirements. My students range in levels and my goal is to meet them where they are, therefore, the products I create are made with those different levels in mind.
My teaching style is one that is focused on consistency and expectations. I set expectations for my students while creating support, and an environment that fosters their ability to meet those expectations. I teach my students the benefits of consistency through my own day-to-day practice as a professional educator.
I would count all moments of genuine interaction with students as wins. All of the time when students feel comfortable enough to ask questions or go outside of their comfort zone are moments where I feel honored.
My path educational path to teaching was non-traditional. I completed an alternative teacher certification program. This has impacted my professional practice because I tend not to approach teaching from a traditional standpoint. I am constantly evaluating and reflecting on my practice and how I can improve to meet the needs of the students.
I am currently enjoying watching way too much kdrama.
