I have experience in teaching students in kindergarten through 5th grade with significant cognitive disabilities; autism (all levels) and ADHD; emotional/behavioral difficulties; multiple disabilities; specific learning disabilities; and speech/language impairments.
I have adopted a student-centered approach to teaching as I strive to prioritize the students I work with and their individualized needs and strengths. From creating a welcoming and safe learning environment to building positive and genuine student-teacher relationships as well as emphasizing structure, predictability, and consistency, everything I do reflects my strong belief in the importance of being trauma-informed and neurodiversity affirming. I like to provide students with opportunities to learn in a way that allows them to simultaneously activate their auditory, visual, and kinesthetic pathways as well as help them apply their knowledge whether in the real world or across various content areas.
