I have experience teaching 7th and 8th grade science in a Delaware public school in both a regular education and special education setting. I have my BS in Elementary Education and Middle School Science, and I have my M.Ed in Instruction. In addition to teaching science, I am the head of my school's science department, and I am a state facilitator for curriculum trainings.
I love teaching science because it allows students to have a true hands-on, learning experience. I model and scaffold many concepts at the beginning of a unit, and then my students work collaboratively with group members or a partner to complete the task on hand. I like to 'disguise' my lessons as a "game" or "activity" which automatically heightens the excitement level of my students. By trying new strategies and techniques regularly, I am able to learn a new side of my students and myself as their teacher!
