I have been teaching since 2014 with most of my experience centered on middle school social studies and incorporating literacy across all contents. Additionally, I have a background in high school history and world geography. My current school is the largest middle school in KY with over 1200 students in grades 6th-8th. We are located in an urban district and have a very diverse student population. We are challenged with ECE, ESL, GT, and advanced placement students intermixed on grade-level teams. My team is our Montessori magnet program that allows a unique approach to content through hands-on activities and a student-led curriculum. We are the only public school with this program in the state.
I love whole group activities, small group mini-lessons, guided reading, centers/stations, game-based learning, project-based learning, and incorporating technology for student success. I currently am certified as a level 1 and level 2 Google Certified Educator. Teaching during a pandemic pushed me to utilize digital tools to maximize learning and you will see this reflected in my product. Additionally, I am a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator and Mentor through the Modern Classroom Project. Helping educators use their innovative, research-backed instructional model that responds to every student's needs.

Outside of work and being a teacher, I love spending time with my family and my fur babies. My weekends are full of sporting events and reading for pleasure. In this time of teacher burn-out and shortages, I hope that you find joy in our profession and faith that we are making a difference. To teach is to change a life, and we do that every single day!
