In a world where reading is pushed so hard on students that many are losing their love of reading it is IMPORTANT to give them opportunities to read that are fun. Reader's Theater does this. I spaced it for the students and broke it into parts. The words that rhyme are in bold to help the students know which words to emphasize. The reason I chose this ballad for reader's theater is that it sounds wonderful when read aloud. Students will need practice getting in the sing song voice of it while also using emotion. Due to th

Students may need some help with the phrasing. I avoid all mention of Uncle Remus and just focus on the animal stories. In the script, Brer Fox ha

This is a simple script template that prompts students to create a story in the form of a script using the elements of plot structure (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution). It was developed as part of a group project for newcomer ESOL students to work together to write a script. The layout includes lines for dialogue including a stop and check section with guided questions. You can adapt it by adding more scenes or guiding questions.
