This project-based learning project consists of twelve math objectives encompassing number sense, fractions, measurement and geometry. This activity is geared more toward a teacher summative assessment of skills previously taught. The length of time for completing this project runs right at six weeks or so (teacher discretion). Students may choose to complete any of the objectives that they desire. I however, stipulate that a certain amount of objectives must be accomplished by the deadline. Rigo
Culuminating activity at the end of a geosphere unit -- students choose 5 out of 41 possible choices covering topics such as: Layers of the Earth ~ Plate Tectonics ~ Rock Cycle ~ Earthquakes ~ Volcanoes. This project could easily be converted to ANY SCIENCE TOPIC, not just geosphere. All learning styles covered! Every project has its own rubric and directions, project choices range from being worth 10 to 50 points.CAREFULL -- I did not edit this to make it generic, so there are some project

NGSS- Gr. 2 Earth's System's: Processes that Shape Our Earth2-ESS2-2. Develop a model to represent the shapes and kinds of land and bodies of water in an area. After learning about landforms and map skills, students will put their skills to the test to create their own imaginary island that will need to include all important map features. Two rubrics are included along with an example.
For this activity, students create a comic strip character (rock) that takes a journey on 'the rock cycle,' which ends up being full of adventure and happenings! A brainstorming sheet and rubric are included.
Product outline:
In this product your students will conduct an experiment to determine whether soil types affect plant growth. This experiment can be done as a class, in groups or individually. You can use it as a fun activity in Science, or as an assessment.
In this product you will get:
> Step by step instructions for the experiment for your students.
> A table to record data
> Examples of graphs
> Rubric I use to mark this as an assessment.

This is simple project for weather that my fourth graders will be working through.
It is set up so that each child can choose 1 of the 2 projects (poster or technology). With in each choice, there are multiple choices on topics.
Choice 1 - Weather Instruments/ Poster
Choice 2 - Types of weather (storms) / Technology
Grading Rubric Included
I use this version of the classic soda bottle volcano each year during my landforms unit. The difference is that I ask my kids to record the creation, eruption, and outcome of their project and bring in the *video* only! No mess! We do one volcano together in class so they can have the full effect, and then watch each other's video presentations. Feel free to make this project your own - have fun!
This ready-to-use rubric will work with most research projects assigned to your middle or high school science classes. I also provide my students with a more detailed description of what they should be producing in the form of "success criteria" checklists.
Students chose one of the five regions of the United States. They make a travel brochure including information about the region. Including natural/man-made landmarks, activities to do depending on landforms in the region, climate, map, and natural resources found in the area. I made a rubric with the requirements and points.
This project includes a rubric for grading. It is editable. Students must create an ecosystem which includes individual, population, ecosystem, symbiosis, mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, succession, limiting factors and carrying capacity.
Some of the mini-FRQs in my digital notebooks are released College Board exam questions; these are the scoring guides for those mini-FRQs. They are the property of the College Board and are freely available on the College Board's website. They've simply been organized into this document to align with the mini-FRQs in my digital notebooks.
This rubric assesses a 1st grade research project on animals. It includes researching using technology & books, writing a paragraph, and illustrating their picture. Great for advanced learners!
This is a 24 point project done in groups. Students create a food chain and present it. It also has a section for how well each student participates in group work. Hope you like it!
Students will create a water cycle diagram to the teachers specifications. Also included is a lined page for students to write a written explanation of the water cycle and how it works. A student check list is provided to help students ensure they have done their best work. Lastly, a basic rubric is provided for possible assessment and grading.
This is a terrific end of the year project for an Earth Science class. It's almost as if all paths led this way! For APES (Advanced Placement Environmental Science) this fits in nicely with environmental geology units, though I typically have man-made disasters as a companion. This lesson works well with subs.Natural Disaster Project with Rubric and Audience guided notes
This project allows students to use their creativity to build a model of the Earth's internal structure and provide details for each layer. In addition, they are required to provide these details on a poster and create a story on a journey to the center of the earth. Resource includes: Layers of the Earth Description (Sent to parents and students). Two different rubrics that can be used. ************My students and parents loved this project. I am looking forward to doing it again next year. Ple
This is a helpful supplement to the FOSS Science Curriculum and can also easily be adapted to any science curriculum. The FOSS Science Curriculum does not give much guidance for how to grade students. In my class, the notebook grade was 60% of the science grade and this is the rubric I used. Students learned how to keep organized science journals and I successfully used this rubric for years.
This is a scaffolded activity to breakdown the steps of writing a claim, evidence, reasoning conclusion paragraph. Students are given background information to explain how the data was gathered. The students will need to analyze the data and extrapolate to determine the missing numbers. Students will then identify the minimum and maximum crystal size based on the data table. They will create a graph using the data table to help them visual the relationship between the variables. The will use a t
