TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorders for 25 years. I am a speech/language pathologist and Autism Resource Specialist at the early childhood level in Minnesota.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I feel that building relationships with students is priority. Once you have a positive relationship, you have an "in" to helping the child learn. I also like to use humor...who doesn't like to have fun?!? I love using special interests and passions to connect with students and build skills. I LOVE creating visual supports!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was awarded the Star of Excellence Award from the Education Foundation of Hudson in 2009. The honor is designed to recognize teachers or staff members who have demonstrated an unusual commitment to inspire students to reach for difficult and lofty goals. Persons recognized have earned the respect of students, parents and peers through sustained effort, high moral standards and the likelihood of enduring beneficial effects on the students with whom they have worked.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. and M.S. in Communicative Disorders from UW-River Falls Minor in Early Childhood Education Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate from Hamline University

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have two grown children, Nate and Sophie as well as two teenage stepsons, Owen and Evan. The love of my life is Jason:) I love mountain biking, hiking, and going on adventures in the mountains!
