TEACHING EXPERIENCE

20 years teaching language arts to diverse populations and 2nd language learners. 15 years teaching International Baccalaureate grades 9-12. Author of 12 books ( I have a pen name.) Speaks at conferences on writing and symbolism. Short mini helps on TikTok and IG.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Students learn by doing. Lectures are kept to a minimum. I provide the guidance and tools for students to learn using relevant project-based units, cooperative/group learning strategies, and activities that allow for different abilities and interest levels. I'm all about having students understand 'The Why' with each activity.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Nothing makes me happier than when students tell me they learned so much from a unit or activity. As an author, I bring a writer's understanding of the power of language, be it a word's connotative definition, a concise sentence, or the nuances of characterization. As a mom of 4 grown children, I understand the teenage experience.
