TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hank Fellows is a New York educator, storyteller, and songwriter who has presented extensively across America on creativity, music education, 9/11/01, and maximizing students' potential. The two songs that Hank wrote shortly after 9-11-01, "The Spirit of America" and "Halfway to Heaven," have been performed hundreds of times across America by schools, churches, and community choruses. These songs have also been performed at official 9/11 ceremonies in all five boroughs of New York City. Hank's children's book about 9/11, "Sirius, The Hero Dog of 9/11," (available in Hank's TpT store) is an integral part of the state-wide 9-11 Education curriculum in New Jersey, and is being taught across America to help children understand the events of 9/11/01.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hank incorporates audience participation, humor, personal stories, and his warm personality into his student presentations.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Hank has received four Popular Music Awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), as well as a Special Achievement Award from the Unisong International Song Contest. On September 10, 2006, Hank received a Citation from the New York City Council for his "continued generosity and devotion to the remembrance of September 11th." On March 6, 2008, Hank received a "Service Above Self" Community Service Award from the Rotary Club of Jersey City, NJ, where Hank's 9/11 songs have been performed each year since 2006 at the annual 9/11 ceremony honoring the 38 residents of Jersey City who died on September 11, 2001. Hank's song "Halfway to Heaven" was selected by the New York City Fire Department as the soundtrack for its official video memorial honoring the 343 FDNY members who died on 9/11/01.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Hank received his bachelor's degree from the City College of New York (CCNY), and his graduate degree from Rutgers University.
