This is my fifth year being an elementary school counselor. My first two years were at a K-6 school in Bismarck, ND. What a wonderful and supportive community I was involved with fellow colleagues. I learned so much those first two years and will absolutely treasure my experience. I'm in my 4th year being a K-5 elementary school in Salem, OR. Truly loving the student population and opportunities I have experienced.
I am a believer in being organized, yet creative in how I deliver lessons. In the grades K-2, I love to incorporate books into my guidance lessons, so I often have an activity to follow-up. For the upper grades, I try to keep things active and engaging. I often have a variety of activities throughout a lesson, so I can accommodate a variety of learning styles.
Not at this time. :)
I graduated college with Human Development and Social majors. After college and a few years working in the non-profit world, I decided to follow my heart and pursue a graduate degree in school counseling. I received a M.Ed in Education and currently licensed for K-12 school counseling.
As a school counselor, I coordinate a variety of projects, systems and tasks: 504's, crisis response, small group/individual sessions, classroom guidance, PBIS, SST, Student Leadership, home connections, etc.
