I am starting my 26th year in education. I feel I have done it all, from a Paraprofessional to a Classroom Teacher for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to a Librarian/Media Specialist, as well as a Technology Workshop Presenter. Being a Librarian/Media Specialist has to be the best job of them all. What better career is there than being surrounded by shelves and shelves of books and a mini-computer lab all day?
I believe in meeting the current needs my students have, and currently, my students crave technology. My desire is to bring the world of Literature to the modern world of technology adventure for an awesome friendship to emerge.
Teacher of the Year 2018/2019 Maple Lane Elementary School. In addition, my shining teacher moments would have to be teaching my fellow teachers technology tips through workshops during and after school. However, I believe my best shining moment had to be when our superintendent for my district visited my classroom for an afternoon to see and participate in the technology I incorporate daily in the hands of my students. The students were so proud of themselves and the knowledge they shared. They loved teaching "their principal's boss" how to use response system clickers, IPads, and our SMART Board.
I currently hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Library Science, as well as a Master’s in Instructional Technology. When I finished my Master’s in Library Science, I couldn't stop until I obtained its sister degree in Instructional Technology, which is definitely my true love. I am just a life-time learner. I just can't stop. I guess I am Obessed With Learning.
During my teaching career, I have incorporated as much technology as I possibly could in my classroom and later in my media center. I have utilized and taught workshops on SMART Boards, ActivBoards, different types of response systems, IPods, IPads, Mac Books, Nooks, and any other technology equipment I could get my little fingers on.
