Bev DeMonyé has wide experience as a preschool, primary and intermediate classroom teacher. Gloria Gustafson has taught at all elementary levels as a classroom teacher and has experience working with parents and teachers as a District Consultant. We have taught at all elementary grade levels and subject areas. Bev has Pre-K experience as well. We both have held support teacher roles (ESL, learning assistance, resource room and gifted).
Throughout our careers we found that children have the best possible chance to reach their full potential when educators work in partnership with their colleagues at the school level and with the parents of their students. Such partnerships promote transfer of learning from class to class, grade to grade and between the school and home learning environments. This is especially true for children who are challenged.
We have both been asked to teach at the University level to share our knowledge and experience to students entering the profession. Bev taught in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. Gloria taught in the Faculty of Education and in Field Programs at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.
Bev has a Bachelor of Education Degree, a Diploma in Special Education and a Master of Arts Degree. Her research and graduating thesis was: Early Identification and Intervention Programming for Beginning At Risk Readers. Gloria has a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Her research and graduating thesis was: Teachers’ Assumptions, Beliefs and Values About Teaching Spelling; A Study of Teacher Development.
We would look forward to answering any questions you might have. Gloria Gustafson ~ learningtoread@telus.net Bev DeMonye ~ bdm2014@telus.net
