I have been a Spanish teacher since 2000. During this time I have had experience teaching every level of Spanish from a 9 week exploratory program to Spanish V and everything in between.
I teach with a more communicative style. While grammar instruction is part of the job, I believe that experience with reading, listening, speaking and culture are the heart of the language.
The greatest honor I could ever receive is when I get messages like this from former students: Dear Señora V, I just wanted to say thank you for being a wonderful teacher. I am currently taking a 5 week Spanish 1 class at tri c and it's amazing how much Spanish is coming back. Because the course is so fast I'd be completely sunk without you. Thank you for making Spanish fun back in the day and possible today. I miss you and wish I could go back. Sincerely Fernando
I have a B.A. in Education from Kent State University and a M.A. in Educational Administration from Ashland University.
I am currently experiencing language development first hand as my young son is beginning to talk. This has given me a new perspective and new ideas as to what it is to acquire language. I always knew being a teacher would help me be a better parent, but I never realized that being a parent would also help me become a better teacher.
