Hello there! My name is Brooke Howell, and I suppose you can say that I was born to be a librarian! An avid reader at a young age, I not only enjoyed escaping in stories, but I also marveled in exploring the fascinating science of the world around me. I learned about libraries through working in the elementary school library in which my mom was the librarian, where she would reward me by buying me my favorite lunch. History, science, philosophy, fairy tales, math, social studies, truth, reasoning -- and yes reading, I have a passion for it all! I am the wife of a younger man and I'm also a fraternal twin who is a new mommy to boy/girl twins.
In my eighteenth year as an elementary school librarian, I push my students to think critically and with dimension about the topics in their curriculum. I love to see them connect the dots. I prefer to have them work through a task and learn through that process. I also incorporate diversity as much as possible in my instruction. It is incredibly important that students see themselves in the stories that are read and the lessons that are taught.

Not only am I a second generation elementary school librarian, I am also a second generation Syracuse University Grad School graduate where I earned my Masters of Library and Information Science with a specialization in School Media in 2005.
