This project is for the book Schooled. The students have to choose four characters and pick a song that would go on their playlist. Great as a review or follow-up activity to a unit on Greek & Roman mythology, a substitute assignment, or an extra credit assignment.
Students are asked to list songs in which the lyrics reference mythology gods, heroes, monsters, stories, etc. in various musical genres. All major genres are covered, so students should be familiar with one or two. To complete the worksheet, they'll have to listen and search outside their comfort zone. Who knows?

Students love to use their own music in this assignment. It is their job to find examples of metaphor and simile in music and explain what the artist is trying to convey.
