Show Me the Proof ~ Providing Textual Evidence ~ The Trial of Fact and Opinion

Yertle The Turtle Mock Trial
Students will read the story 'Yertle the Turtle' and then participate in this mock trial for their Social Studies class. Each student will be provided with a part (can accommodate entire classes as many students will be assigned to the jury) and a script to read from. This brochure is nicely formatted and contains information on how copyright laws apply to teachers. Can be a great example for middle and high school courses if students are doing projects on copyright, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, etc.
Or, you can just download this brochure for its aesthetics for your own personal use and change all of the content. I've found brochures are very tricky and time consuming to get the way you want them to look, so it is so nice to have a good foundation broch

A Fun Bingo activity on the U.S. Bill of Rights
The activity replicates the game of Bingo (Using Terms used in "U.S.- Bill of Rights"). The teacher cuts out the terms on Card (1) and places them in a hat. The students randomly write the 25 terms on Card (2). The teacher draws out the words from the hat and the students mark the words off to complete a row in any direction. Once a given row is highlighted by a student they are the "round winner".
