Attached is a literacy based ENL lesson analyzing the impact of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Fannie Lou Hamer, as well as the impact of assassinations of MLK and Malcolm X on the nation. Black History Month Artist Research and Create Project
Many of these artists are not the typical Black History Month heroes that we see year to year. By having students research the lives of these artists I want them to learn from the positive and negative experiences many of these artists have endured. Black History Month is about celebrating cultural heritage, not just of the past, but of the present and the future.
