Narrative Bootcamp Day 2 (Lucy Calkins Lifesaver)
This narrative writing bootcamp was developed after struggling to make the necessary gains using the Lucy Calkins program. It was developed after years of trying different techniques to improve narrative writing in my classroom. I use this activity as a followup to my existential and nihilist powerpoints in Eng III. We watch "The Killing Joke" cartoon movie as a primer before we delve into texts. I find students are able to relate to these themes better though familiar superhero archetypes. I start the movie at about 30 min, after the Batgirl intro (it serves no purpose).
