This rubric can be used to assign a grade to students for their participation in their assigned Literature Circle discussion groups. The rubric is designed for 4 Literature Circle discussion meetings, but could easily be adapted for more or less. The rubric addresses student's participation as well as preparedness.

One Pager Rubric for Literature and Novels
This is a 4, 3, 2, 1 based rubric (Great for Standards Based Grading) that you can pair with any literature piece or novel. It follows the AVID guidelines for a One Pager and connects several 5th Grade Common Core Standards to it. You can easily modify and connect to surrounding grade level standards.
Essay Rubric - Literary Analysis, Beginner
Grading essays objectively can be difficult - a student may write well but miss the point, or have terrible style but excellent content. Use this rubric to assign 1-4 points in each of the covered areas; add up the points when you're done, divide by the total possible points (40) and you'll have your percentage grade, confident that you have taken into consideration all the areas that need grading!

A favorite exercise I do with my Lit. students is to have them memorize a passage from a play and present it to the class. This rubric is a quick and easy way to assess their presentation and is flexible enough to work for any kind of memorization subject. Editable in Excel so you can customize it as needed.

TC Narrative rubric excel file digital data tracker
This is an excel file that can be used with the Teachers College Narrative rubric.This was made using the 5th grade TC narrative rubric.I am not sure if the point system changes for other grades. When using the excel file you can input the scores of each student and the cells will change in color and the score will be calculated. I use this to look at whole class needs. Silent Reading Goals Template
I use this form during our silent reading time. Each student has a day that they meet with me to discuss their book that they are currently working on. I attached 3-5 sheets behind student dividers inside of a thick 3-inch binder.
