The Island of Earth & Beginning of Time ~ a story of a Native American myth
This is a nice little story based on a Cherokee myth about the beginning of time. I originally wrote it for my 2nd grade class to learn proper nouns and thought it was also nice as story by itself. Plus, it got me drawing again, and even though I've seen better illustrations, they are mine and were fun to do.
This can also be used for Thanksgiving!

A Language Arts Activity ~ The Great Feast of Wampum Wealth
This is a really fun way for your students to practice their spelling, grammar, and vocab words. It can even be used for math, science, reading and social studies.

I wrote this unit for a class in 2021, so it can be updated for future Decembers :)The Trickster is a deceitful and humorous character in many Indigenous stories. This unit uses the Trickster as an Elf on the Shelf to incorporate daily Indigenous knowledge lessons into the classroom.

Integrated Thanksgiving Unit
I created a week long thematic integrated unit plan for Thanksgiving. This unit focused on the friendship between the Pilgrims and Native Americans. The students learned a different aspect of the story each day. They drew what they learned on a piece of fabric throughout the progression of the story as we discussed the lesson each day. The end result was a four piece quilt of the Thanksgiving Story.
